Guatemala

Experience active volcanos, rain forest, and a whole new culture! On this trip you will be based in Antigua, Guatemala's "old city" with cobblestone streets and surrounded by volcanoes, with a night spent at Lake Atitlan.  In addition to hiking and sightseeing, you will go ziplining, horseback riding, visit plantations , and roast marshmallows over an active volcano!

For those who are in very good physical shape with an adventurous spirit and open to a more rustic experience, we are pleased to offer an excursion up the Acatenango volcanos. This option includes a jeep ride, camping overnight in very rustic conditions in near freezing temperatures, and then an extensive pre-dawn hike to watch sunrise over the clouds with the Fuego volcano erupting below you.  This 24 hour trip would take the place of the Pacaya volcano hike as well as another activity.

Food on this trip will be obtained through the Chabads of Guatemala. Certain snacks and food alternatives may not be available.

Day 4

Day 5

Meet up at the GUA airport. Those who arrive early will be able to spend the morning in Antigua. Then everyone will meet for our first tour at the Valhalla Macadamia Farm, and hiking at Finca El Pilar. Enjoy an optional trip to a local brewery in the evening.

Start your morning with fresh coffee - on a coffee plantation tour, followed by horseback riding, and bird watching while hiking through the rainforest. Spend the evening walking through town and exploring the Antigua market.

Begin your day with a traditional Guatemalan breakfast before heading out to hike your volcano. The more adventurous group will head off to Acatenango for their 24 hour adventure, while the rest of the group will explore Habitenango (hike to viewpoints, axe throwing, giant swing, and more), and then hike the Pacaya Volcano.

Start with an optional hike to a panoramic viewpoint of the town, Acatenango, and Fuego volcanoes. Then meet up for brunch before heading to the Panajachel Nature Reserve where you will go on an extreme zipline course. You will also be able to enjoy the bridges, trails, and animals in the preserve.

Enjoy your last day at Lake Atitlan. Begin your morning early with the Indian Nose sunrise hike. Then visit the towns surrounding the lake, ride a tuktuk, see a Mayan bee sanctuary, and a women’s weaving coop before heading back to to airport.
